Why: “ Whether you are unemployed, underemployed or in a job that is not a good fit for you, now may be the time to make a change!” stated Todd Hicks, conference organizer and Chair of ReStart. Unemployment in the Charleston area is under 4%; the lowest it’s been in years. Accordingly, there continues to be an upward trend in job growth in the Charleston area. “Some people may want to make a change, but are unsure of where to start”, stated Hicks. The ReStart Career Conference provides attendees a Free Talent Assessment, which would typically cost $ 250. According to Butch Howard, Founding Core Member of ReStart “The Talent Assessment has helped many attendees focus on what type of job best suits their personality.”

The conference also provides useful tips on how to write a resume that will get noticed by those hiring, on how to best search for a job, and how to prepare for job interviews. “To be successful in their job search, most people need to learn and apply the techniques offered in the ReStart Career Conference, and many of our past attendees can attest that these methods work”, stated Hicks. The conference is designed to give participants powerful tools to enhance their search for employment and an opportunity to get hands-on practice and feedback during the smaller group sessions.

This conference is just the beginning of ReStart’s efforts. After the conference, attendees can join a Community Group for ongoing support, attend Workshops for in-depth details on requested conference topics, and join a ReStart LinkedIn group for helpful job hunting tips and networking.

ReStart’s reputation in the community continues to grow. Many local companies contact ReStart to help spread the word on available job openings. “We are reaching out to the community, providing support and knowledge with the hope that each person can find the job that was meant for them”, stated Hicks.
